Clutchcity.net Notes on Etan Thomas
Thomas is one of the best defensive power forward prospects in the draft. He was named Big East Defensive Player of the year in his junior year and holds the school record for single-season blocked shots.

This past season, Thomas expanded his skills and added a few low post moves including a jump hook to his arsenal. Admittedly, his offensive game is raw and under-developed, but his defensive skills are substantial.

Comparisons have ranged from Antonio Davis to Brian Grant and while he may posess the size of those players, he is not quite the rebounder they are but he is a much better shot blocker. He has a fiery attitude and moves well in the open court.

Thomas will have to work on his offensive skills to succeed in the NBA. He has the size and leaping ability to be a solid offensive player but he'll have to add some basic moves in the post.

Strengths of Etan Thomas
Defense. Thomas is right behind Swift and Martin in his defensive abilities at the power forward spot in this draft. He is a great shot blocker and decent rebounder.
Weaknesses of Etan Thomas
Thomas has very little offensive game. He will have to improve on it or at least become a better offensive rebounder to be make a significant contribution on the pro level.
Thomas on the Rockets?
Thomas is expected to go somewhere in the middle of the first round so he will certainly be available at 9 but he probably won't be the best player available at that time. Thomas would make an excellent defensive addition to the Rockets, but there will probably be more skilled players available at 9 than Thomas.
