Peterson became the first sixth man ever to be named to the All Big 10 first team. His leadership when Cleaves was hurt was invaluable to the team and helped carry them to the national championship. He is a clutch player with terrific skills.

Peterson excells on offense. He runs the floor exceptionally well, shoots well from all parts of the floor and is smooth from three-point range. He was quick enough to play the small forward but rangey enough to cover at small forward. He has a quick trigger which allows him to get shots off with defenders in his face and can finish on the break.
