UPDATE: Due to a very large fan response, the Rockets reversed this decision and allowed ClutchFans to attend camp on Tuesday

Many fans have emailed us the last several weeks asking if we will be attending training camp this season. We attended and covered camp from 1999 to 2002, the 4 years it was in Austin. Since I'm now in Houston and so are the Rockets for the yearly drill, the plan and schedule have been to attend this week.

However, the Rockets altered those plans, notifying the site this weekend that they have changed their stance on media access. The team is looking to do "bigger things" with the official team site and that allowing media access for ClutchFans would be "unfair competition against the official site".

This move marks the first aggressive action by the team against the fan site since an attempt to shut it down in 1998.

ClutchFans has been covering the Rockets now for 10 seasons. We have visited training camp and press conferences numerous times in the past. This change in team policy, despite allowing other web-based news sources the same access, is disappointing to us and should be for all fans.

Rockets Media Day is today and camp starts tomorrow.
