Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, along with owner Les Alexander and new acquisition Ron Artest, spoke with the media on Thursday about the Rockets big move with the Kings.
After the press conference, I got the chance to ask Morey, who is in Beijing, China for the Olympics, if he thought his wheeling and dealing with other teams was done for the summer.
"We still have some minor trades likely," said Morey, specifically citing the Steve Novak trade to the Clippers as an example of the type we could probably expect (which might make one wonder about Luther Head right about now).
While minor trades were "likely", Morey added the Rockets are always keeping their ears to the ground.
"Of course we are always looking for bigger things when they come along," said Morey. "We did not expect an Artest like deal until closer to the [February '09 trading] deadline."
Morey also added that there was "nothing new" on the free agent status of Carl Landry and Dikembe Mutombo.
Landry, a restricted free agent, has been holding out for a bigger Rockets offer while Mutombo recently told Channel 2 in Houston that he's ready to come back to the Rockets but has not gotten a contract offer.
"I will play basketball if the Rockets give me the offer," said Mutombo. "I haven't gotten the offer from the Rockets, zero, [not] even a dollar, so I am unemployed. I have no job."
